Great news the Manitoulin Amateur Radio Club Inc. has recieved a large donation from the Little Current Lion's Club. Last year the Manitoulin executive worked on an application to be able to except donations through the Ontario Lottery program. An application was submitted and accepted as the club met the details of the application. As a result I approched the Little Current Lions Club explaining that the club relies on our main repeater VE3RMI. The exsisting equipment including antenna and feedline was installed some 25 years ago and is in need of repelacement. Plus other equipment like duplexers and amplifier was also needed. A detailed list of replacement equipment was given to the Lions Club in hopes of recieving a donation to replace some of it. Last week the President of the Lion's Club Mr. Bruce Burnett advised that their club met and without hesitation wrote a cheque in the amount of $9,500.00 for the purchase of all the equipment and was handed to myself as President of the MARC. This will cover the total replacement of the VE3RMI repeater with brand new equipment providing emergency and public service communications for many decades to come. Great thanks are given to the Little Current Lion's club and a formal media event will be scheduled in the near future. Plan are now in the works for the purchase of new equipment and replacement of the old. Stay tuned for further details.

Greetings to all members of the Manitoulin Amateur Radio Club it saddens me to say that our long time Vice President Jim Mclean VE3LJM has asked to step down from the executive role as VP and DEC for ARES while he is dealing with a serious health issue. His wife Lorraine McLean VE3LMJ our club Secratary and Treasurer has also asked to step down while she can assist Jim. As many of you know they did alot for the club behind the scenes and are really going to be missed in this role. Both Jim and Lorraine are and will still reamin members of the club but asked to have some personal time while they deal with this issue. On behalf of all members we wish them the best and Jim a full recovery.
On a happy note I am very pleased to be able to appoint Lou Noble VE3LDY as our new interum Secratary and Treasurer to fullfill the remainer of the elected term. As many of you know Lou comes to us with great financial experiance and is employed with Canada TD Bank. Lou agreed to step up and assist the club thank you Lou you are a real godsend.
Since it is the start of the new year club dues are due again I am still happy to report the club dues have not changed we are still $30 for single membership and $40 for family membership. Dues help us run the club with insurance costs, hydro to run the repeater and repairs etc. Dues are now required for the year of 2019, for those have have already paid thank you so much. There are many members that did not pay for the year 2018 if your not sure if you paid or not please check with Lou and she will get you updated. Just a reminder members two years in the rears will be taken off the membership list and will not be covered under the RAC insurance for the club. I ask if your going to mail your membership in to the club you use my address and send it to me at Allan Boyd VE3AJB P.O. Box 208, Little Current, Ontario P0P1K0. Please include your updated mailing address, phone number and e-mail address and you will be included in the new e-mail distrabution list. Again thank you for your support and commitment to the MARC because without you we would not be here.

Tired of hearing the digital "noise" on RMI when it's in the C4FM mode? The repeater DOES transmit a CTCSS tone of 156.7hz while in FM mode, allowing you to set your tone squelch on your NON C4FM radio...when it is properly set, you will see the signal strength meter go over, but you will hear no digital squawk...
Not sure how to set tone squelch on your radio? Contact Rusty or Al... I am sure we can walk you thru it!
